Use this interactive demo to learn how to schedule and manage messages in Slack.

Quick summary

Slack's message scheduling feature lets you compose a message and set a specific delivery time, so your communication reaches teammates at exactly the right moment. You can review all scheduled messages anytime from the Drafts & Sent section in Slack.

Steps

  1. Type the message you want to schedule in the Slack message composer.
  2. Click the dropdown menu next to the Send button to access scheduling options.
  3. Enter the time when you want your message to be sent.
  4. Confirm your selection to schedule the message for future delivery.
  5. Navigate to Drafts & Sent to view all your scheduled messages in one place.
  6. Review the scheduled message preview to confirm everything looks correct.

📌 Why this matters

Scheduling Slack messages gives teams precise control over when communication is delivered, making it easier to respect time zones, avoid off-hours interruptions, and coordinate announcements without being online at the exact moment of sending. This feature is essential for distributed and async-first teams who need their messages to land at the right time for the right audience. With a simple dropdown next to the Send button and a centralized Drafts & Sent view, Slack makes message scheduling fast and easy to manage at scale.
