Use this interactive demo to learn how to automate Google Calendar event cancellations as Slack channel messages.

Quick summary

This demo shows how to integrate Google Calendar with Slack using a Zapier automation that sends a Slack channel message whenever a Google Calendar event is cancelled. Setting up this Zap eliminates manual follow-up and keeps your team instantly informed of scheduling changes.

Steps

  1. Hit Create > Zap on the left sidebar to start building a new automation.
  2. Click on the Trigger to define what event starts the Zap.
  3. Select Google Calendar from the listed apps as your trigger source.
  4. Set the Trigger event to Event Cancelled so the Zap fires when a calendar event is removed.
  5. Click Account to connect your Google Calendar account.
  6. Sign in to your Google account in the pop-up to authorize the connection.
  7. Select your Action event to define what happens after the trigger fires.
  8. Search for Slack as the action app.
  9. Choose Send channel message as the Action to notify your team in Slack.
  10. Connect your Slack account if it is not already linked.
  11. Click Publish to activate the Zap and establish the live integration.

📌 Why this matters

Connecting Google Calendar to Slack via Zapier ensures your team never misses a cancelled meeting — a Slack channel message is sent automatically the moment an event is removed from your calendar. This Google Calendar and Slack integration eliminates the need for manual notifications, reducing confusion and missed follow-ups across distributed teams. For teams that rely on calendar-driven workflows, automating event cancellation alerts keeps everyone aligned in real time without any extra effort. Zapier makes this no-code automation accessible to any user, no developer required.
