Quick summary
Customizing your GitHub profile lets you showcase your work, skills, and identity to recruiters and collaborators. You can update your README.md, pinned repositories, bio, avatar, and status all from the GitHub dashboard.
Steps
- Click your profile icon located at the upper-right corner of your GitHub dashboard.
- From the drop-down menu, select Your profile.
- Customize your README.md file using Markdown formatting to add text, images, links, and more.
- Click Customize your pins to showcase your best repositories on your profile.
- Edit your pinned items by selecting additional repositories you want to highlight.
- Click Save pins to confirm your pinned repository selections.
- Click Edit profile to open your profile settings.
- Add your name, bio, pronouns, or company to personalize your profile details.
- Add your website, email, and social accounts, then click Save.
- Click the emoji icon to set a profile status.
- Select a status and click Set status to apply it.
- Click your avatar to change your profile photo by browsing files from your device.
