Quick summary
This tutorial shows how to create a Coda dashboard with external data by building a Zapier automation that connects a source like Trello to a Coda table, mapping fields and syncing rows automatically. Once the Zap is live, your Coda dashboard updates in real time whenever the external data changes.
Steps
- Log in to Zapier, click "Create", and select "Zaps" to start building a new automation.
- Choose your preferred data source (such as Trello) from the available trigger app options.
- Select the specific data event you want to import into Coda, for example "Card Updated".
- Connect your Trello account to authorize Zapier to access your data.
- Select the dataset (board or list) you want to sync into Coda.
- Click "Test Trigger" to verify that Zapier can pull a sample record from your data source.
- Select Coda as the Action App for the second step of the Zap.
- Choose "Create Row" or "Update Row" as the Coda action to perform when the trigger fires.
- Connect your Coda account to authorize Zapier to write data to your doc.
- Map the external data fields to the corresponding Coda table columns to define what data lands where.
- Click "Test step" to confirm the integration writes a row to your Coda table correctly.
- Publish the Zap — your external data is now visualized in Coda and will update automatically going forward.
