Use this interactive demo to learn how to sync Coda rows with a SQL Server database via Zapier.

Quick summary

This tutorial shows how to connect Coda to a SQL database using a Zapier automation, so that new or updated rows in Coda are automatically written to SQL Server without any manual data entry.

Steps

  1. Log in to Zapier, click "Create", and select "Zaps" to begin building your automation.
  2. Click "Trigger" to start configuring the trigger step of your Zap.
  3. Search for Coda in the app search field and select it as your trigger app.
  4. Choose a trigger event, such as "New Row" or "Updated Row", to define what activity starts the Zap.
  5. Connect your Coda account to authorize Zapier to access your data.
  6. Select the doc and table you want to track within your connected Coda account.
  7. Click "Test trigger" to verify that Zapier detects the Coda data correctly.
  8. Add SQL Server as the Action App to receive the data from Coda.
  9. Select an action event, such as "New Row" or "Update Row", to define what SQL Server should do.
  10. Connect your SQL Server account, map Coda fields to columns, run a test, and click "Publish" to activate your Zap.

📌 Why this matters

Connecting Coda to a SQL database with Zapier eliminates manual data transfer between your collaborative docs and your relational database. Teams that store operational data in Coda can automatically push new or updated rows into SQL Server in real time, keeping downstream reports, dashboards, and applications always in sync. This no-code integration removes the need for custom scripts or ETL pipelines, making it accessible to both technical and non-technical users. For organizations that rely on SQL Server as their system of record, this Zap ensures data consistency without engineering overhead.
