How to Change Slack Channel Name?

Renaming a Slack channel takes just a few steps using the channel settings in the conversation header. Only channel owners have permission to edit and save a new channel name.

Steps

1. Select the channel you want to rename from the Slack sidebar.
2. Click on the channel name in the conversation header to open its settings.
3. Next to Channel name, click the Edit button.
4. Enter the new channel name and click Save Changes to apply. Note: only channel owners can edit the channel name.
