Quick summary
Adding someone to a Slack conversation lets you expand a direct message into a group DM without losing context. You can search by name, include existing message history, and confirm the addition in just a few clicks.
Steps
- Click on the name of the person from the conversation header to open their profile options.
- Select "Add people to this conversation" from the dropdown or profile menu.
- Type the name of the person you want to add to the conversation in the search field.
- Select the person from the search results to add them to the group DM.
- Choose whether to share conversation history with the new member, then click "Done" to confirm.
- All selected people are now added to the DM and can participate in the conversation.
