Use this interactive demo to learn how to use the Planned view in Microsoft To Do.

‍

‍

The Planned smart list is your central hub for time management, aggregating every task with a due date into a single, chronological timeline.

‍

  1. On your Microsoft 365 main dashboard, click the App launcher in the upper-left corner.
  2. From the app list, select To Do to open Microsoft To Do.
  3. Select Planned from the left sidebar for a consolidated view of all due-date tasks.
  4. Select a specific task to open the task details.
  5. Click the "Remind me" button to set your nudge.
  6. Click "Add due date" to set a deadline for this task.
  7. Monitor your upcoming workload to ensure your deadlines remain realistic, and you’re all set.

📌 Why this matters

The Planned view transforms scattered tasks across different lists into a single timeline, letting you spot scheduling conflicts and workload bottlenecks before they become problems. While you might think due dates are just reminders, they actually function as a resource allocation system.

When all your deadlines live in one chronological view, you can redistribute tasks early, negotiate extensions proactively, and avoid the stress of discovering three major projects are due the same week. This visibility turns reactive scrambling into strategic planning.
