This is a quick and easy guide for preparing your InDesign file for print. Make sure to review the following items before printing.
- To prepare a file for print in Adobe InDesign, first ensure that bleed is activated and applied to your document. This can be accessed in Document Setup from the File menu.
- Ensure that all file links are secured and not missing. This can be viewed in the Links panel from the Window menu.
- Ensure that the color mode is set to CMYK. This can be accessed through 'Window' → 'Color' → 'Color.'
- If not, change the previous color to CMYK.
- Open the Preflight panel from the Window menu and ensure that no missing or error files are detected in your document.
- When everything in the document looks final, customize the print settings by clicking ‘Print’ from the File menu.
- Go to Marks and Bleed from the left menu to finalize the page layout for the printer.
- Click ‘All Printer Marks’ to ensure that all margins, bleeds, and other marks are applied to the document. Once done, save your file for printing or print directly to your printer.
