‍

‍

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to open an Illustrator file using the drag-and-drop method in Adobe InDesign:

‍

  1. To open an AI file directly into Adobe InDesign, open Finder or the file location on your computer where the Illustrator file is saved.
  2. Select your file (.ai, jpeg, png, pdf) and drag it into the open InDesign document.
  3. Click anywhere on the InDesign workspace. The file will appear in the Links panel but remains attached to the cursor, waiting to be placed.
  4. Click and drag on the InDesign page to place the Illustrator file. Once placed, the file will appear in the Links panel, confirming it has been successfully open.
