Use this interactive demo to learn how to list your tasks in Microsoft To Do.

‍

‍

Microsoft To Do organizes your tasks into smart views and custom lists for easy access. Here is the simple guide:

‍

  1. On your Microsoft 365 main dashboard, click the App launcher in the upper-left corner.
  2. From the app list, select To Do to open Microsoft To Do.
  3. Click My Day (top tab) to see today's suggested tasks and planned focus.
  4. Click Important (star icon) or Assigned to filter starred or delegated tasks.
  5. Click Planned to list tasks by due date (today, tomorrow, later).
  6. Toggle the check box beside the task you've completed, and this task will go straight under "Completed."
  7. Your tasks will now appear organized under each selected view.

📌 Why this matters

Viewing your tasks through different organizational lenses prevents the mental overwhelm that comes from staring at one massive, undifferentiated list. When you can instantly switch between what's urgent today, what's been delegated to you, or what's coming up by deadline, your brain can focus on execution rather than constantly re-prioritizing.

The real advantage lies in how these filtered views mirror the different contexts of your workday—you think differently during morning planning than when handling urgent requests or reviewing weekly commitments.
