‍

‍

The process is straightforward. To integrate GitHub Copilot with Jetbrains you can do this through IntelliJ:

‍

  1. Head to your IntelliJ dashboard and click on 'Settings' to get started.
  2. In the 'Plugins' section, type "GitHub Copilot" in the search bar.
  3. Click 'Install' to add GitHub Copilot to your IntelliJ setup.
  4. Review the terms and click 'Accept' to proceed with the installation.
  5. Once installed, click 'Restart IDE' to activate the plugin.
  6. Another quick 'Accept' here to keep things moving.
  7. After restarting, click 'Sign in to GitHub' to link your account with Copilot.
  8. Click 'Copy and Open' to grab your authorization code.
  9. Click 'Authorize GitHub Copilot Plugin' to finalize.
  10. GitHub Copilot is now integrated with IntelliJ Jetbrains and ready to assist you.

📌 Why this matters

Setting up GitHub Copilot in your JetBrains IDE transforms your coding workflow by providing AI-powered code suggestions directly in your familiar development environment. You get intelligent autocomplete that understands your project context, suggests entire functions, and helps write boilerplate code faster.

The real advantage goes beyond speed - Copilot learns from your coding patterns and project structure, making suggestions increasingly relevant to your specific codebase. This creates a personalized coding assistant that adapts to your style while maintaining the powerful debugging and refactoring tools you already rely on.
