Use this interactive demo to learn how to draw a line in Lucidchart.

‍

‍

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to draw a line in Lucidchart in super easy steps.

‍

  1. On the left side of the editor, find the Shapes section where your tools are displayed.
  2. In the left panel, select the Line or Connector tool (straight or angled line icon).
  3. Click the line and move your cursor to the canvas where you want the line to appear.
  4. Click and drag from your starting point to your ending point, then release to place the line.

📌 Why this matters

Drawing lines transforms static shapes into meaningful diagrams by establishing relationships, workflows, and hierarchies. You can illustrate process flows, organizational structures, network connections, or decision trees that actually communicate ideas rather than just displaying isolated elements. Lines also serve as visual anchors that guide your audience's eye through complex information in a logical sequence. When you connect related concepts visually, you're essentially creating a visual language that makes abstract relationships concrete and instantly understandable to anyone viewing your diagram.
