In this tutorial, use this interactive demo to learn how to create a two-way arrow in Lucidchart.

‍

  1. Click the line on the canvas to select it.
  2. On the top toolbar, click the Line options or arrow settings.
  3. Set the start arrow to arrowheads.
  4. Set the end arrow to arrowheads and you're all set!

📌 Why this matters

Two-way arrows clarify bidirectional relationships in your diagrams, showing that processes, data, or communication flow in both directions rather than just one. This distinction prevents misinterpretation of your workflows and system designs. Beyond simple visual appeal, bidirectional arrows communicate reciprocal dependencies, feedback loops, and mutual exchanges that single-direction arrows miss entirely. When stakeholders review your diagrams, they'll immediately understand which connections represent one-way processes versus interactive relationships, making your documentation more precise and reducing the need for additional explanatory notes.
