Use this interactive demo to learn how to set up custom data connections in your Coda doc.

Quick summary

Custom data connections in Coda let you sync external data sources — such as Google Sheets — directly into your Coda tables with configurable sync fields. This guide walks you through locating the connected pack options, selecting your data source, and finalizing the connection settings.

Steps

  1. Inside your Coda doc, find the table that contains data from an external source and click its corresponding Options button.
  2. Navigate to the right-side panel and tap the name of the connected pack — in this example, Google Sheets for Coda will be selected.
  3. Browse the options under the Edit Sync Fields section and configure each field based on your preference.
  4. Review your changes and click the Close icon to proceed.
  5. Your Coda doc is now connected to the third-party data source with your custom settings applied.

📌 Why this matters

Custom data connections in Coda allow teams to pull live external data — such as Google Sheets — directly into their Coda docs without manual copy-pasting, keeping information accurate and up to date. By configuring sync fields through connected packs, users gain full control over which data columns are imported and how they are mapped, reducing errors and saving time. This feature is essential for operations, marketing, and analytics teams who rely on real-time data from multiple sources inside a single collaborative workspace.
