This demo shows how to enter 1099-NEC nonemployee compensation in TurboTax Online by navigating the Federal Income section and completing the Self-Employment flow. Steps
- Navigate to the Federal tab to access the section where you'll report your 1099-NEC income alongside all other earnings for the year.
- Click Income to begin adding your 1099-NEC earnings to your tax return.
- Scroll down to Self-Employment and click the arrow to reveal your available filing options.
- Click Start next to Form 1099-NEC to begin entering your nonemployee compensation details.
- Answer the introductory questions about your 1099-NEC income, then click Continue to proceed.
- Work through the remaining prompts — mostly simple yes/no questions — clicking Continue after each screen.
- Click Done to save your 1099-NEC information and complete this section of your return.
