Use this interactive demo to learn how to copy text in Adobe Acrobat.

‍

‍

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to copy and paste in Adobe Acrobat.

‍

  1. Open Adobe Acrobat, then open the PDF you want to edit.
  2. On the right side pane, click Edit PDF.
  3. Select and highlight the text that you want to copy.
  4. Right-click and click Copy (or Copy with Formatting)

📌 Why this matters

Copying text from PDFs lets you extract quotes, data, or content for reports, emails, and other documents without retyping everything. This becomes especially valuable when working with scanned documents or forms where the text might otherwise be inaccessible.

You can preserve original formatting when needed, ensuring citations maintain their appearance, or strip formatting to match your destination document's style. This workflow bridges the gap between static PDFs and editable content, making research and documentation far more efficient than manual transcription.
