Use this interactive demo to learn how to compare two PDF files in Adobe Acrobat.

‍

‍

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to compare two PDFs in Adobe Acrobat

‍

  1. Open Adobe Acrobat
  2. In the top section, click Tools.
  3. On the list of tools, click Compare Files.
  4. Select Files to compare.
  5. After uploading the files to compare, click "Compare".
  6. Wait for Acrobat to generate the comparison results.

Note: Check Compare text only if you only want to compare text and ignore images and formatting.

📌 Why this matters

Comparing PDFs catches changes that would otherwise slip through manual review, especially in legal documents, contracts, or technical specifications where a single altered word can have major implications.

You can spot subtle modifications like updated clauses, shifted numbers, or deleted sections without reading entire documents side-by-side. This becomes particularly valuable when reviewing document versions from different stakeholders, as people often make changes without highlighting them or providing clear change logs.
