How to Change 1Password Master Password

This tutorial shows how to change your account password in 1Password using your browser.

Note: 1Password refers to this as your "account password." You'll need your current account password to complete this process. After changing it, update your Emergency Kit with the new password and store it somewhere safe.

1. Go to 1password.com  in your browser and sign in to your account. Alternatively, click the 1Password icon in your browser toolbar to sign in.
2. Click your account name in the top-right corner of the page, then select "Manage Account" from the dropdown.
3. In the Manage Account page, click "Change Account Password" in the sidebar on the left.
4. Enter your current account password in the first field, then enter your new password and confirm it in the fields below. Click "Change Account Password" to save. 1Password will send a confirmation to your email.
5. Download and save your Emergency Kit, update it with your new password, and store it in a secure location, such as a USB drive or printed copy in a safe. You can now sign in with your new account password.
