How to Integrate 1Password with Duo

This tutorial shows how to secure your 1Password account with two-factor authentication using Duo as your authenticator.

Note: You'll need the Duo Mobile app installed on your phone and an active Duo account before starting this process. Duo integration for two-factor authentication is available on 1Password Teams and Business plans.

1. Go to 1password.com in your browser and sign in to your account. Alternatively, click the 1Password icon in your browser toolbar to sign in.
2. Click your account name in the top-right corner of the page, then select Manage Account from the dropdown.
3. In the Manage Account page, click More Actions, then select Manage Two-Factor Authentication.
4. Click Set Up App. 1Password displays a QR code on the screen.
   Note: 1Password also displays a 16-character secret key next to the QR code. Save this in a secure offline location in case you lose access to Duo.

5. Open the Duo Mobile app on your phone, tap + Add, then tap 1Password from the list or Use QR code directly and scan the QR code displayed on the 1Password page.
6. After scanning, Duo will begin generating six-digit codes for your 1Password account.
7. Enter the six-digit code from Duo Mobile into the confirmation field on 1Password, then click Confirm to complete the setup. From now on, you'll be prompted to approve a Duo push notification or enter a code each time you sign in to 1Password.
