‍

Here’s a simple and quick guide on how to adjust page numbers font size in Adobe InDesign:

‍

  1. To adjust the page number font size, open the Pages panel and select the Master Page so the changes apply to all succeeding pages.
  2. Highlight both text boxes, then go to the Properties panel to customize the font size.
  3. In the Character section, select the 'T' icon (Font Size) and adjust it to make the page numbers larger or smaller in your document.
  4. View the changes applied on your Master Page.
  5. Now check all pages to ensure the changes have been applied. Once reviewed and confirmed, the page number adjustment has been successfully completed.

📌 Why this matters

Properly sized page numbers ensure your document meets specific style guidelines for publications, academic papers, or client requirements. When page numbers are too small, they become difficult to locate during printing or digital navigation, while oversized numbers can clash with your layout's visual hierarchy.

By adjusting the master page, you maintain consistency across hundreds of pages without manual editing. This becomes crucial when repurposing content across different formats - a book layout might need subtle page numbers, while a manual requires bold, easily scannable ones.
