How to Add Pictures to Notion

Updated on:
May 8, 2026

Madhav Bhandari
Use this interactive demo to learn how to insert and arrange images in your Notion page.

Quick summary

You can add pictures to a Notion page using the slash command, the plus icon, or by dragging and dropping an image directly onto the page. Once inserted, images can be repositioned and arranged side by side for a custom layout.

Steps

  1. Type the slash command (/image) in your Notion page to open the image block insertion option.
  2. Select the appropriate image option from the slash command menu to insert an image.
  3. Confirm that the image block now appears on your Notion page.
  4. Hover over any line on the page to reveal the plus (+) icon on the left side, or simply drag and drop an image directly onto the page.
  5. Click the plus (+) icon and select the image option from the menu.
  6. Choose one of the various upload methods available to insert your image.
  7. Drag images to reposition them and place them next to each other on the page.
  8. Your images are now saved in their specified positions on your Notion page.

📌 Why this matters

Adding pictures to a Notion page makes your workspace more visual, organized, and easier to navigate for teams and individuals alike. Notion supports multiple image insertion methods — including the slash command, drag and drop, and the inline plus icon — giving users flexible options to suit any workflow. Arranging images side by side lets you build rich, structured layouts without needing external design tools. This makes Notion a powerful all-in-one workspace for documentation, project management, and content creation.
