‍

‍

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to add bleed marks in Adobe Acrobat.

‍

  1. Open the PDF file you want to add bleed marks to.
  2. On the right-side panel, click More Tools.
  3. On the list of tools, click Print Production
  4. On the right-side panel, click Add Printer Marks.
  5. Tick Add Bleed Marks.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Another prompt will show about proceeding with the operation. Just click Yes.‍
  8. Click Close.

📌 Why this matters

Adding bleed marks ensures your printed materials look professional by preventing white edges when paper is trimmed after printing. You create visual guides that show printers exactly where to cut, accounting for slight variations in the cutting process.

Beyond basic printing, this becomes essential when you're repurposing digital-first PDFs for print production. Many designers create materials digitally without considering print requirements, so adding these marks later saves you from recreating entire documents and maintains consistency across both digital and physical versions of your content.
