This tutorial shows how to secure your 1Password account with two-factor authentication using an authenticator app like Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator.
Note: You'll need a mobile authenticator app installed on your phone before starting this process.
- Go to 1password.com in your browser and sign in to your account. Alternatively, click the 1Password icon in your browser toolbar to sign in.
- Click your account name in the top-right corner of the page, then select "Manage Account" from the dropdown.
- In the Manage Account page, click "More Actions," then select "Manage Two-Factor Authentication" in the sidebar on the left.
- Click "Set Up App." 1Password displays a QR code on the screen.
Note: 1Password also displays a 16-character secret key next to the QR code. Save this in a secure offline location in case you lose access to your authenticator app. - Open your authenticator app on your phone and scan the QR code. The app will begin generating six-digit codes for your 1Password account.
- Enter the six-digit code from your authenticator app into the confirmation field on 1Password, then click "Confirm" to complete the setup.
