Steps
- Navigate to the Federal tab in TurboTax — that's where all income reporting, including your 1099-NEC, begins.
- Click on Income to begin adding your 1099-NEC earnings.
- Scroll down to Self-Employment and click the arrow to expand your options.
- Hit Start next to Form 1099-NEC to enter your nonemployee compensation details.
- Answer TurboTax's simple questions about your 1099-NEC income and click Continue to proceed.
- Keep answering the prompts (usually Yes or No) and hit Continue after each one.
- Once all your 1099-NEC info is entered, click Done to save and complete the section.
