Use this interactive demo to learn how to block multiple survey responses from the same respondent.

Quick summary

SurveyMonkey's collector settings let you disable multiple responses, ensuring each respondent can only submit one entry per survey. This setting is managed at the collector level, giving you precise control over response integrity for any survey you run.

Steps

  1. Log in to SurveyMonkey and open your desired survey.
  2. Go to the Summary tab and under Collectors, select the collector you want to configure.
  3. Scroll down to the response settings section within the collector settings and click the drop-down arrow.
  4. Locate the Multiple responses option and turn it OFF to allow respondents to submit only one response.
  5. Once disabled, respondents will not be able to submit multiple entries for the survey.

📌 Why this matters

Preventing duplicate survey responses is critical for collecting accurate, reliable data. SurveyMonkey's multiple responses setting gives survey creators direct control over how many times a single respondent can submit answers, protecting data integrity without requiring advanced technical setup. This feature is especially valuable for market researchers, HR teams, and educators who need trustworthy one-response-per-person data. Configuring this at the collector level means you can apply the restriction selectively across different distribution channels for the same survey.
