Quick summary
Notion does not have a native subscript button, but you can create subscript text by inserting an inline equation and using an underscore to format characters below the baseline.
Steps
- Click the blank space in your Notion page where you want the subscript text to appear.
- Type /inline equation to trigger the slash command menu.
- Select Inline equation from the dropdown menu.
- Type your text using an underscore for subscript — for example, type Q_1 Report to render the 1 as subscript.
- Click Done to confirm and close the equation editor.
- Your subscript has been successfully added using an inline equation in Notion.
