Use this interactive demo to learn how to embed and create Jira issues directly inside a Confluence page.

Quick summary

The Jira Legacy macro in Confluence lets you embed live Jira issues into any page using an issue key, filter, or JQL query. You can also create new Jira issues without leaving Confluence, keeping project tracking and documentation in sync.

Steps

  1. While editing a Confluence page, type /jira and select Jira Legacy from the macro menu.
  2. Search for issues using an issue key, filter, or JQL query.
  3. Select issues and customize how they are displayed on the page.
  4. Click Create Jira Issue to add a new issue directly from Confluence.
  5. Choose the Jira server, project, and issue type for the new issue.
  6. Click Insert to connect the Jira macro to your Confluence page and save the changes.

📌 Why this matters

Integrating Jira and Confluence closes the gap between project tracking and team documentation, so engineers and project managers never have to switch tools to stay aligned. Embedding live Jira issues inside Confluence pages means status updates, issue details, and sprint progress are always visible in context alongside specs, meeting notes, and project overviews. Teams can also create new Jira issues directly from a Confluence page, reducing context-switching and ensuring action items are captured instantly. This tight integration is essential for Agile teams that rely on both tools to plan, execute, and document their work efficiently.
