How to Use Funnel Analysis in Amplitude

Use this interactive demo to learn how to leverage funnel analysis in Amplitude for insightful user behavior tracking.

It is very easy to use funnel analysis in Amplitude. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to do it in simple steps:

  1. Head over to the left-side panel, then click 'Templates'.
  2. Select 'Funnel Analysis' from the list of options.
  3. Following that, configure the Events settings tab according to your liking. Simply specify the event you wish to use as 'Starting Event' and 'Ending Event'.
  4. Once done, click 'Save As Dashboard' at the top-right corner.
  5. Enter a unique dashboard name and pick your preferred storage location. Subsequently, click 'Save' to proceed.
  6. After completing these steps, the dataset related to funnel analysis will be displayed on the newly created dashboard.

Funnel analysis reveals where users drop off in your conversion process, letting you identify specific bottlenecks and optimize accordingly. You can measure everything from sign-up flows to checkout processes and quantify the impact of product changes.

Beyond surface-level metrics, funnels expose behavioral patterns across different user segments and time periods. This segmentation capability means you can discover that mobile users abandon at different stages than desktop users, or that certain traffic sources consistently perform better, giving you actionable intelligence for targeted improvements.
