Use this interactive demo to learn how to change the API version on a Salesforce Flow in just a few clicks.

Quick summary

Updating the API version on a Salesforce Flow ensures your automation runs on the correct platform release and avoids deprecated behavior. You can change the API version for running the flow directly from the Flow's advanced settings in Salesforce Setup.

Steps

  1. Click the gear icon at the top right menu of the dashboard to open settings.
  2. Select Open Advanced Setup from the menu.
  3. In the Quick Find search box, search for and select Flows.
  4. Choose a flow to open from the Flows list.
  5. Click the gear icon at the top-left menu of the Flow page.
  6. Click Show Advanced in the dialog box to reveal advanced settings.
  7. Scroll down to API Version for Running the Flow and select the version from the dropdown menu.
  8. After selecting an API version, click Save to apply the change.

📌 Why this matters

Keeping your Salesforce Flow's API version up to date is critical for ensuring compatibility with the latest Salesforce platform features and avoiding runtime errors caused by deprecated APIs. Running flows on an outdated API version can lead to unexpected behavior, broken automations, and compliance issues during Salesforce release upgrades. This demo shows Salesforce admins exactly how to locate and update the API version setting through Advanced Setup, reducing the risk of flow failures in production. Staying current with the correct API version helps teams maintain reliable, future-proof automation across their Salesforce org.
