Use this interactive demo to learn how to track changes in your PDF documents in Adobe Acrobat.

‍

‍

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to track changes in Adobe Acrobat

‍

Note: Adobe Acrobat doesn’t have Microsoft Word-style Track Changes. Use Comment tools and the Comments list to review changes.

‍

  1. Open your PDF in Adobe Acrobat.
  2. On the right-side pane, click Comment.
  3. Add changes using markup tools (Highlight, Strikethrough, Sticky Note, etc.).
  4. Open the Comments list to view all changes in one place.
  5. Click a comment to jump to its location in the PDF.
  6. Use the Filter option to view comments by type, reviewer, or status.
  7. Click Close to exit Comment options.

📌 Why this matters

PDF collaboration becomes manageable when you can see exactly what others suggest changing without losing the original content. Unlike editing directly in the document, comment-based tracking preserves your source material while building a complete revision history.

This approach becomes especially valuable when multiple reviewers provide feedback simultaneously—you can accept or reject suggestions individually rather than working through conflicting versions of the same file. The filtering capabilities help you prioritize feedback by urgency or reviewer expertise.
