How to Schedule Social Media Posts on Sprout Social

Updated on:
May 12, 2026
By:
Madhav Bhandari
Use this interactive demo to learn how to compose and schedule social media posts across multiple accounts.

Quick summary

Sprout Social's Publishing feature lets social media managers compose, schedule, and organize posts across multiple social accounts from a single dashboard. Using the Compose tool, teams can add media, tag categories, group posts into campaigns, and send content directly to the publishing calendar.

Steps

  1. In the left sidebar, locate and click on the Publishing option.
  2. Select the Compose tool — your central hub for creating and publishing social content.
  3. Use the profile picker at the top to select which social media account(s) to post to.
  4. Use the content editor to write your post and apply formatting options, including adding media files like images or videos.
  5. Note that posts with visuals typically get 2–3x more interaction than text-only posts.
  6. Tag your post with relevant categories to track performance.
  7. Enter a campaign name if you want to consolidate posts under a single campaign.
  8. Set a campaign timeline to get a clearer visual overview of your campaign and its posts.
  9. Head back and hit Save to confirm your settings.
  10. You will be taken to the calendar page where you can schedule your post.

📌 Why this matters

Scheduling social media posts consistently is one of the biggest challenges for marketing teams managing multiple platforms. Sprout Social's Publishing and Compose tools solve this by centralizing content creation, media uploads, campaign grouping, and calendar scheduling into a single streamlined workflow. This reduces manual effort, improves cross-channel consistency, and gives teams clear visibility into campaign timelines and post performance. For any brand looking to scale its social media presence, Sprout Social's scheduling capabilities directly support higher engagement and more organized content operations.
