Saving a baseline in Microsoft Project lets you capture the original project schedule so you can track variances over time. This five-step process uses the Set Baseline dialog to lock in your plan for the entire project.
Steps
- Navigate to the Project tab in the Microsoft Project ribbon menu.
- Click the Set Baseline button in the ribbon.
- In the dropdown menu that appears, select the Set Baseline option (distinct from the button you just clicked).
- In the dialog box, confirm Baseline is selected in the Set Baseline dropdown and verify that Entire Project is selected.
- Click OK to save your baseline and lock in the project schedule.
