Use this interactive demo to learn how to rearrange the pages in your Adobe InDesign document.

‍

‍

Here’s a quick and easy guide on how to rearrange pages in Adobe InDesign:

‍

  1. To rearrange pages in Adobe InDesign, open the Pages panel by going to 'Window' → 'Pages.'
  2. Once the Pages panel is open, right-click the page you want to move and select ‘Move Pages.’
  3. The Move Pages dialog box will open. Specify the destination page for your selected page, then click ‘OK’ when finished.‍
  4. Check the Pages panel to confirm that your selected page has been moved to its new position in the document.

📌 Why this matters

Rearranging pages lets you restructure your document's flow without recreating content from scratch. You can reorder chapters, move appendices, or reorganize sections based on client feedback or editorial changes.

This becomes especially powerful when working with master pages and automatic page numbering—InDesign maintains all your formatting relationships and updates cross-references automatically. Instead of manually rebuilding a 50-page report because the executive summary needs to move, you simply drag and drop to restructure the entire document while preserving your carefully crafted design elements.
