Making a summary task in Microsoft Project is easy, it’s how you group subtasks under a single “parent” task. Here’s the clean, step-by-step way:
- From the 'Task' tab go to the 'Gantt Chart' view.
- Enter the tasks that should be grouped.
- Select the tasks you want under the summary.
- Click the 'Indent Task' button from the 'Task' ribbon.
- Enter a unique or descriptive name for your new summary task.
- The top task becomes the summary task, and the indented ones are subtasks.
