Use this interactive demo to learn how to lock an image in your Adobe Acrobat documents.

‍

‍

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to lock an image in Adobe Acrobat

‍

  1. Open your file in Adobe Acrobat.
  2. Open the Print options (Ctrl + P or Cmd + P)
  3. On the Printer, select Adobe PDF.
  4. Click Print to save the file.
  5. Type a filename and save your file.

Note: This creates a new, flattened PDF where the page content is “locked” in place (it reduces how easily images can be selected and moved).

📌 Why this matters

Locking images prevents unauthorized editing and maintains your document's visual integrity when sharing with clients or colleagues. You control exactly what recipients can modify, protecting sensitive graphics, logos, or proprietary designs from tampering.

The flattening process also significantly reduces file size by merging layers and eliminating redundant data, making documents faster to load and easier to distribute via email. This becomes especially valuable for contracts, presentations, or marketing materials where consistent formatting across different devices and PDF viewers is critical for professional credibility.
