Use this interactive demo to learn how to connect Smartsheet data to Google Sheets via a Zap.

Quick summary

This tutorial shows how to integrate Smartsheet with Google Sheets using Zapier by building an automated Zap that syncs data between the two platforms. Once configured, any qualifying event in Smartsheet automatically triggers a corresponding action in Google Sheets — no manual data transfer required.

Steps

  1. Head over to the left-side panel and click 'Create'.
  2. Choose 'Zaps' from the list of options.
  3. Click the 'Trigger' tab to start the integration process.
  4. Search for 'Smartsheet' and select it from the recommended matches.
  5. Click 'Choose an event' and specify your preferred Trigger Event.
  6. Tap 'Sign In' and log in to your Smartsheet account.
  7. Click 'Allow' to accept the terms and grant the necessary permissions.
  8. Provide the information needed to set up the Trigger, including selecting a Sheet.
  9. Click 'Continue' to run your input and test the Trigger.
  10. Choose the specific record you want to use, then click 'Continue With Selected Record'.
  11. Search for 'Google Sheets' and select it as the Action app.
  12. Click the drop-down menu and pick the particular Action Event you want to carry out.
  13. Click 'Sign In' and log in to your active Google account.
  14. Read the terms and click 'Continue' to grant the necessary permissions.
  15. Fill out the input fields one by one with the required information.
  16. Click 'Continue' to publish and enable the integration.
  17. Your Smartsheet account is now successfully integrated with Google Sheets via Zapier.

📌 Why this matters

Integrating Smartsheet with Google Sheets via Zapier eliminates the need for manual data entry by automatically syncing rows and records between the two platforms whenever a trigger event occurs. This Smartsheet-to-Google Sheets automation is essential for teams that manage project data in Smartsheet but need that data instantly available in Google Sheets for reporting, analysis, or collaboration. By using a no-code Zap, operations and project management teams can keep both tools in sync in real time without writing a single line of code. The result is faster workflows, reduced human error, and a single source of truth across your spreadsheet tools.
