How to Import Visuals in Power BI

Importing visuals in Power BI lets you expand your report design beyond the default charts. Here’s how:

  1. Open your Power BI report in Power BI Desktop. Click on the 'Visualizations' pane on the right side of your screen.
  2. Now, find the three-dot menu at the bottom of the visuals.
  3. From the menu that appears, select 'Import a visual from a file' to bring in your custom visualization.
  4. From the menu that appears, select 'Import a visual from a file' to bring in your custom visualization.
  5. Browse to locate the .pbiviz file on your computer that contains the visual you want to import.
  6. Click 'Open' to start the import process.
  7. You'll see a notification confirming the visual was successfully imported. Click 'OK' to dismiss it.
  8. That's it! Your imported visual now appears in the Visualizations pane, ready to drag onto your report canvas.
