This tutorial shows how to import a custom visual into Power BI Desktop using the Visualizations pane and a .pbiviz file. Once imported, the visual becomes instantly available on your report canvas without any additional configuration.
Steps
- Open your Power BI report in Power BI Desktop and click on the Visualizations pane on the right side of your screen.
- Find the three-dot menu at the bottom of the visuals panel.
- From the menu, select Import a visual from a file to bring in your custom visualization.
- Browse your computer to locate the .pbiviz file containing the visual you want to import.
- Click Open to start the import process.
- Review the confirmation notification that the visual was successfully imported, then click OK to dismiss it.
- Your imported visual now appears in the Visualizations pane, ready to drag onto your report canvas.
