Quick summary
A YouTube copyright claim is filed by a rights holder when copyrighted content is detected in your video, potentially causing monetization redirection, regional blocks, or audio muting. Using YouTube Studio, creators can review claim details and choose a resolution action — such as disputing the claim, muting the segment, or trimming the flagged content.
Steps
- Go to studio.youtube.com and click Content in the left sidebar; videos with active claims will show a Copyright notice in the Restrictions column.
- Click the Copyright claim link on the affected video to open the claim details page.
- Review the claim details — including the flagged segment, the rights holder, and the current impact such as monetization redirected, video blocked, or audio muted.
- Click Select action to see your available resolution options.
- Choose the appropriate resolution action based on your situation.
- Select your preferred action, follow the prompts to apply it, and click Save; changes may take a few hours to process.
