How to Export Contacts in GetResponse

Updated on:
May 11, 2026

Madhav Bhandari
Use this interactive demo to learn how to download and export your contact lists from GetResponse.

Quick summary

Exporting contacts in GetResponse lets you download your subscriber lists as a file for backup, migration, or analysis. The process uses the Search Contacts page and takes just a few steps from your dashboard.

Steps

  1. Click 'Tools' located on the upper left side of your dashboard.
  2. Click on the 'Contacts' option from the dashboard menu on the left-hand side.
  3. Navigate to the 'Search Contacts' page and click on it to begin the export process.
  4. Click 'Advanced Search' to display the available search criteria.
  5. Expand the drop-down menu and select the list or lists you want to display, then click 'Apply' to confirm your selection.
  6. Click the vertical ellipsis icon next to the total number of contacts to open the options menu.
  7. From the dropdown menu, select 'Export'.
  8. In the popup modal, name your file in the empty field provided.
  9. Select a file format for your export.
  10. Click the 'Export New File' button to start the export process.
  11. Wait for a notification confirming the file has been successfully exported.
  12. Once the file appears in the list, click the 'Download' button to save it to your device.

📌 Why this matters

Exporting contacts from GetResponse is essential for email marketers who need to back up subscriber data, migrate lists to another platform, or analyze contact records offline. GetResponse's built-in export feature gives users full control over their contact data by allowing filtered, formatted downloads directly from the Search Contacts page. This capability ensures that businesses can maintain data portability and compliance without relying on third-party tools. For teams managing large subscriber bases, the ability to quickly export segmented lists saves time and reduces the risk of data loss.
