Use this interactive demo to learn how to activate Account Contact Relationship in Salesforce Setup.

Quick summary

The Account Contact Relationship feature in Salesforce lets users link a single contact to multiple accounts, improving CRM data accuracy. You enable it through Advanced Setup by turning on the Contacts to Multiple Accounts setting in Account Settings.

Steps

  1. Click the gear icon at the top right of the Salesforce dashboard to open the settings menu.
  2. Select Open Advanced Setup from the dropdown menu.
  3. In the Quick Find search box, search for and select Account Settings.
  4. Click Edit to make the Account Settings editable.
  5. Go to Contacts to Multiple Accounts Settings and enable the option to allow users to relate a contact to multiple accounts.
  6. Click Save to apply and confirm the changes.

📌 Why this matters

Enabling the Account Contact Relationship feature in Salesforce allows sales teams to associate a single contact with multiple accounts, eliminating duplicate contact records and providing a more accurate, 360-degree view of customer relationships. This is critical for B2B organizations where one contact — such as a consultant or partner — interacts with multiple companies. By activating this setting through Salesforce Advanced Setup, admins unlock a native CRM capability that improves data integrity, reporting accuracy, and overall sales productivity without requiring third-party tools.
