Use this interactive demo to learn how to customize and manage list views in Salesforce CRM.

Quick summary

Salesforce list views let you filter, organize, and display CRM records like Accounts, Contacts, and Leads in a tailored format. You can rename a list view, control sharing settings, and choose exactly which fields appear — all from the List View Controls gear icon.

Steps

  1. Navigate to an object tab such as Accounts, Contacts, or Leads using the top menu or the App Launcher.
  2. On the object page, hover over the gear icon labeled List View Controls to open editing options.
  3. Click Rename to change the name of the current list view.
  4. Click Sharing Settings to define which users or groups can access and view the list.
  5. Click Select Fields to Display to choose which fields appear as columns in the list view.

📌 Why this matters

Salesforce list views are a core productivity feature that allow sales and service teams to quickly surface the most relevant CRM records without manual searching. By customizing list views — renaming them for clarity, setting sharing permissions, and selecting the right fields — teams can standardize how data is presented across the organization. This reduces time spent navigating the CRM and helps reps focus on the accounts, contacts, and leads that matter most. Mastering list view editing is essential for any Salesforce user who wants to work more efficiently within their CRM workflow.
