Use this interactive demo to learn how to create and embed a draw.io diagram into Confluence.

Quick summary

This tutorial shows how to draw diagrams in Confluence using draw.io by designing your diagram, exporting it in your preferred format, and uploading it directly to a Confluence page. Once uploaded, the diagram displays with its last-updated timestamp so your team always sees the most current version.

Steps

  1. Visit draw.io and design your diagram on the canvas.
  2. Click File, select Export as, then choose your preferred file format.
  3. Customize the export settings, then click Export to download the file.
  4. In Confluence, open the desired page and click the image icon to upload a file.
  5. Select Upload to add your diagram to the page and share it with your team.
  6. Your diagram will display with the date and time it was last updated.

📌 Why this matters

Embedding diagrams directly into Confluence pages helps teams document workflows, system architectures, and project plans without switching between tools. Using draw.io to create and export diagrams — then uploading them to Confluence — keeps visual documentation centralized, version-aware, and immediately accessible to every collaborator. This integration is especially valuable for engineering, product, and operations teams that rely on up-to-date diagrams to align on complex processes. Displaying the last-updated timestamp ensures stakeholders always know whether they are viewing the most current version of a diagram.
