Quick summary
YouTube does not have a built-in italic button, but you can italicize text in a video description or comment by wrapping words in underscores directly inside YouTube Studio. This method works for both video descriptions edited in YouTube Studio and comments posted on any YouTube video.
Steps
- Go to studio.youtube.com and click Content in the left sidebar.
- Click the title or thumbnail of the video you want to edit.
- In the Description field, wrap the word or phrase you want to italicize in underscores.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
- Open the video on YouTube to confirm that the text renders in italics.
- To italicize text in a comment, open the video on YouTube, click the comment field, and wrap your text in underscores the same way before posting.
- Check that the comment appears in italics.
