How to Do a VLOOKUP in Smartsheet

It is very easy to do a VLOOKUP in Smartsheet. Here’s a quick guide on how to do it in simple steps:

  1. Inside Smartsheet's Grid View, select the cell where you wish to run the VLOOKUP formula and then type an 'Equals' (=) sign.
  2. Type 'VLOOKUP' next, then select it from the suggested results.
  3. After that, select the cell you wish to use for searching the value.
  4. Head back to your VLOOKUP formula and type a comma to proceed further.
  5. Subsequently, click 'Reference Another Sheet'.
  6. Browse the list, then select the sheet you want to use.
  7. Following that, select the column that contains the reference data.
  8. Once done, click 'Insert Reference'.
  9. Type a comma, then provide the column number you wish to use.
  10. Next, specify your preferred match type.
  11. Once done, review your formula and tap 'Enter' or 'Return' to run it.
  12. After completing these steps, the VLOOKUP formula will be activated instantly.
