Use this interactive demo to learn how to turn off single sign-on for a specific user in Salesforce.

Quick summary

This demo shows how to disable SSO for an individual user in Salesforce by editing their profile settings in Advanced Setup. Admins can revoke single sign-on access without affecting other users by unchecking the Is Single Sign-On Enabled option and saving the change.

Steps

  1. Click the gear icon at the top right of the Salesforce dashboard to open settings.
  2. Select Open Advanced Setup from the dropdown menu.
  3. In the Quick Find search box, search for and select Profiles.
  4. Select the target user profile, then click Edit next to it.
  5. Find the Is Single Sign-On Enabled option and uncheck it to disable SSO.
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save to apply the changes.

📌 Why this matters

Disabling SSO for a specific user in Salesforce is a critical admin task for managing access control and security compliance. When an employee changes roles, leaves the organization, or needs to authenticate via username and password instead of a corporate identity provider, admins must quickly revoke SSO without disrupting the entire org. Salesforce's Advanced Setup and Profiles settings give administrators granular control over single sign-on permissions at the individual user level. This capability helps organizations maintain least-privilege access policies and respond swiftly to security incidents.
