How to Crop Images in Hootsuite

Updated on:
May 12, 2026
By:
Madhav Bhandari
Use this interactive demo to learn how to crop and resize images directly in Hootsuite's Composer.

Quick summary

Hootsuite's built-in image cropping tool lets social media managers resize and crop images directly inside the Composer panel, eliminating the need for third-party editing software. You can enter exact pixel dimensions, choose a preset crop size, or manually drag the resizing handle — then save changes in seconds.

Steps

  1. In Hootsuite's Composer panel, hover over the image you want to edit and click the Pencil icon to open the image editor.
  2. Under the Transform tab, locate the Crop Size section and enter a custom image size, or select a preset size from the available options below.
  3. For manual adjustments, go to the preview area and drag the resizing handle at the corner of the image to crop it to your desired dimensions.
  4. Click Save to apply the crop changes to your image.
  5. Your Hootsuite post image will now reflect the updated crop, ready for publishing.

📌 Why this matters

Hootsuite's built-in image cropping feature removes a key friction point in social media workflows by letting teams resize and crop visuals without leaving the platform. Social media managers can apply exact pixel dimensions or platform-optimized preset sizes directly inside the Composer, ensuring images meet channel-specific requirements every time. This saves time, reduces dependency on external design tools, and helps maintain consistent visual quality across all scheduled posts. For teams managing multiple social accounts at scale, in-app image editing is a practical feature that accelerates content production and reduces errors.
