Use this interactive demo to learn how to crop and standardize image sizes across all your social platforms in Buffer.

Quick summary

Buffer's built-in image crop tool lets you apply a consistent aspect ratio to every post image, ensuring your visuals meet the standard size required across all connected social media platforms. By setting a uniform crop in the Create Post panel, you eliminate manual resizing and maintain a professional, on-brand appearance everywhere you publish.

Steps

  1. Inside Buffer's Create Post panel, find the image you want to edit and click its corresponding Edit button.
  2. Select the Crop option to open the cropping tool.
  3. Choose your preferred aspect ratio from the available choices, selecting the standard size you use across all your social media accounts.
  4. Drag the selector to your desired position to crop the image accordingly.
  5. Click Apply to save the crop changes.
  6. Tap Add to confirm and proceed.
  7. Your Buffer post image will now be cropped to the standard size set consistently across all your social media platforms.

📌 Why this matters

Maintaining consistent image sizes across multiple social media platforms is one of the most time-consuming challenges for social media managers and content teams. Buffer's built-in crop and aspect ratio tool solves this by letting users standardize image dimensions directly inside the Create Post panel, without needing a separate design tool. This ensures every post looks polished and on-brand whether it appears on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, or Facebook. For teams managing high-volume content schedules, this feature saves significant time and reduces the risk of poorly formatted visuals reaching audiences.
