How to Create a Tag in HubSpot

Creating a tag in HubSpot is typically done using properties or labels, since HubSpot does not have a native “tag” feature like other CRMs.

  1. Log in to your HubSpot account and navigate to your main dashboard.
  2. Head to Settings—it's where all the customization magic happens.
  3. Now click on Properties from the left side panel.
  4. Click the Create property button.
  5. Enter a Property name, choose a Field type (Dropdown select or Multiple checkboxes), and add your Tag values (e.g., VIP, Lead, Follow-up).
  6. When all is setup, click "Create property" to save your new field.
  7. You’re all set—your tag system is now ready to use in HubSpot.
