Quick summary

Creating a mockup in Canva lets you place your designs onto real-world frames using the built-in Mockups app, with full control over alignment, flip, and colour. This step-by-step process takes you from uploading your image to downloading a finished, customised mockup in minutes.

Steps

  1. On the edit toolbar, click Uploads.
  2. Select Upload files to import your image into Canva.
  3. Add the uploaded file to your canvas.
  4. Once your image is added, click Edit image from the toolbar.
  5. Under the Apps menu, choose Mockups.
  6. Choose and click your preferred frame for your image.
  7. Go to the Alignment section and adjust the frame position as needed.
  8. Under the Flip section, choose to flip your mockup horizontally or vertically.
  9. Select a colour for your mockup design by clicking the colour box.
  10. Click Apply changes to confirm your colour selection.
  11. Click Share to save your changes and download your mockup.

📌 Why this matters

Canva's built-in Mockups feature lets designers, marketers, and small business owners instantly visualise their artwork on real-world products and devices — no Photoshop skills required. Being able to upload a custom image, apply a professional mockup frame, and adjust alignment, orientation, and colour in one workflow dramatically reduces design time. This capability matters because polished product mockups drive higher engagement in pitches, social media posts, and e-commerce listings. Canva's mockup tool makes professional-grade visual presentation accessible to anyone, directly inside the same drag-and-drop editor they already use.
